2016 was another competitive year for Smith College Admissions, with 254 applicants from Los Angeles, and 98 students admitted. This year, the SCCLA held two simultaneous Admitted Students parties on April 10 to make sure that admitted students from Pasadena through the South Bay could meet alumnae and learn more about the value and importance of a Smith College education.
At her lovely Tarzana home, Vivian Forbes '50 hosted a group of 38, including 11 enthusiastic admitted students from Pasadena to the Westside, and their families. Vivian and Christina Noh '09 shared a presentation, capturing multiple generations of the Smith College experience. Huge thanks to Jim Brunet '08P, Krishna Barratt' 90, Christina Noh '09, Wendy Brynford-Jones '92, Becky Campbell '95, Elis Lee '14, Victoria Knight '77, Chrishtine Quigless '04 and Norkio Yamaguchi '96 for their help and their spirit!
In the South Bay, Ellen Walters '90AC graciously opened her home in Rancho Palos Verdes to 21 people, including 6 eager admitted students and their families. All of the students had been to campus, or were headed to Discovery/Open Weekend. A warm thank you to Rosa Kwon Easton '86, Elvira Rosales '10, Carolyn Bumatay '84, Joy Milan '88 and Noriko Sato Ward '88 for sharing their wisdom.
The entire admissions committee looks forward to getting to know the newly minted members of the Class of 2020! Special thanks to the charming hosts, Vivian Forbes '50 and Ellen Walters '90AC for welcoming the admitted students into their homes and into the Smith College community.
