The next book for the Columbia-Smith Book Club will be Boat Out of Shanghai: The Epic Story of the Chinese Who Fled Mao's Revolution, by Helen Zia. This sprawling book recounts the stories of four young Shanghai residents who brave an uncertain future as they flee the Communist Revolution in China.
