At the next meeting of the Los Angeles Book Club, the group will be discussing A Tale for the Time Being, by Ruth Ozeki '80. Shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, and the summer reading selection for incoming Smith College students this past summer, this novel reveals the entanglement between a depressed Japanese sixteen-year-old and an author on a remote island thousands of miles away. Ruth also received an honorary doctorate from Smith College in 2006 and has now returned as the Elizabeth Drew Professor of English Language and Literature. Terri Macellaro '84 will be leading the discussion.
